Czech Republic | Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer

The Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer, founded in 2002, is an umbrella organisation of 45 national non-profit patients’ organisations. Since 2009, the AWBC has been a member of the Europa Donna coalition, in 2016 we became members of European Cancer Patient Coalition. Since 2015 we have been repeatedly receiving the seal „Reliable public benefit organization“.

GOALS OF THE ALLIANCE
• creating an information and education center for the public, for breast cancer patients and their organizations.
• offering methodological help to breast cancer patients organizations.
• coordinating projects and campaigns aimed at the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
• unifying efforts of both patients‘ organizations and individuals pressing for equal rights and conditions during the treatment and convalescence of women with breast cancer disease.
• representing Czech breast cancer patients in international structures.

Healthy Breasts for the Deaf


Aliance žen s rakovinou prsu – Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer in 2022 worked on the project “Healthy Breasts for the Deaf”. 

This project began in 2017. and informs the deaf community about breast cancer and emphasizes the importance of prevention. 

They communicate in Czech Sign Language, the mother tongue of deaf people in this country.

As part of the project, various texts about prevention and treatment and personal stories of patients are translated into Czech Sign Language, and dictionary of important terminology is beginning to emerge.
