CancerCare.bg for the fourth year in a row, organized the Race for the Cure – the largest charity sports event in Europe in support of women with breast cancer and their loved ones. The funds collected from the registration are used for initiatives related to the fight against breast cancer, such as the "For you, near you" campaign.
Last year, the campaign for free preventive examinations "For you, close to you" covered 17 cities from 14 regions of the country and 1,606 women were examined.
The high interest and good response from the National Campaign inspired them to invest the funds collected from Race for the Cure 2021 this year in the second round of the National Campaign for free breast cancer screenings in Bulgaria "For you, near you 2022". Early detection of breast cancer is curable, and prevention campaigns are a way to achieve it.
With the funds collected from registrations and donations during RFTC 2021 and 2022, they conducted over 2,000 free breast cancer screenings in Bulgaria. The results showed that 10.15% of women have positive findings and are referred for follow-up examinations and tests.
