Croatia | Zupanijska liga protiv raka

“Županijska liga protiv raka” (The County League against Cancer) was founded in 1967 as a non-governmental, non-profit and humanitarian association. The League is the oldest association in Split, and one of the first in Croatia aiming at protecting health, reducing the incidence and the mortality rate for cancer, and providing health education for the Split-Dalmatia County population. The League is located at the Clinic for Oncology and Radiotherapy of KBC Split. In 1972, the League spearheaded the Oncology Building in Split in 1972, as well as its upgrading and modernization in 2008.

The association raises awareness of the population about the importance of health protection, prevention of malignant diseases and their early detection (non-symptomatic), and provides adequate support to patients and their families during treatment.

Since its creation, the League has actively carried out public health actions and projects independently, as well as with the cooperation of the Croatian Cancer League, states institution, health organization, local authorities, etc.

Sun Radio

One of the main project of the League is radio station Sun Radio, which aims at reaching out to the population and promoting the importance of preserving their health. Using a positive approach, the illness is not directly broached; health and healthy living are rather discussed.

“Županijska liga protiv raka” supports and promotes initiatives contributing to a good health, and particularly the protection of the environment, ecological food, plant-based products, and the production of natural materials.

Over the years, the League has established numerous cooperation not only with different types of organization, sport clubs, associations, but also with socially responsible manufacturers and companies.
