Both European organisations work to raise the awareness of European women about breast cancer, promote education, early detection, optimal treatment, medical and psychosocial rehabilitation, palliative care. They advocate for an increase in funding for research into the disease itself, as well as for the application of the same standards for all breast cancer patients within all relevant EU institutions.

Examples of projects in Serbia

The project TOGETHER WE CAN DO MORE was organised in the awaiting of the National Breast Cancer Day - March 20th, where we drew the public's attention to the importance of prevention and early detection of breast cancer. We pay special attention to women who are being treated for breast cancer, and we made them happy with a PINK GIFT OF ATTENTION. On that occasion, a leaflet on the Prevention of lymphedema of the hand after breast cancer surgery was prepared, in cooperation with the Counseling Center Jefimija Užice - an organisation that is a member of EDS.

We demand equal treatment for all women with metastatic breast cancer

Europa Donna Srbija, with the support of other breast cancer associations in Serbia, has launched an initiative to introduce innovative drugs for the treatment of patients with HR-positive / HER2-negative metastatic breast cancers and their inclusion in the list of drugs issued at the expense of mandatory health insurance.

Mammography screenings in the Romani community

In October 2022, the Serbian organization "Evropa Dona Srbija" in cooperation with the Romani Women's Center Bibija, organized the action "Mammography screenings in the Romani community".

In total, 51 Romani women over forty years were tested. The age range was 40 to 73 years (average 52 years).

It is important to say that official breast screening in Serbia is intended for women over fifty, but Evropa Dona chose younger women because the average life expectancy of Romani women is 48 years.

After examinations, three women from 51 (6%) were referred for additional examinations due to suspicion of malignancy after the mammography.
