Dr Alberto Costa gives a summary on the evolution in 4 decades of breast cancer treatment

Breast cancer treatment has been undergoing major developments in the last 40 years

On the occasion of the Race for the Cure broadcast on Sunday 27 September, we interviewed Think Pink Europe ambassador, Dr Alberto Costa, about the evolution we have seen in breast cancer treatment during the last 40 years. 

Dr Costa has studied and worked in Milan in cancer surgery with a special focus on breast cancer management.
Internationally recognised for his contribution to the advancement of breast cancer care, Dr Alberto Costa has also brought innovative ideas in the field of scientific communication and teaching to doctors, raising the standards of training and more general medical care. He has authored over 250 scientific publications. He is the driving force behind ESO, the European School of Oncology and co-founder of Europa Donna, the European Breast Cancer Coalition. 
He was involved in setting up the first Europe Against Cancer programme and represents ECCO (the European CanCer Organisation) on the European Commission’s Committee of Cancer Experts. He also currently leads ECCO’s Quality of Cancer Care Programme. The list of Dr Costa's professional achievements is endless. 

In this interview, Think Pink Europe's ambassador Dr Alberto Costa, explains briefly how breast cancer treatment has been undergoing major evolutions in the last 40 years and where we are today.
