Think Pink Europe will mass-produce and distribute face masks
Think Pink Europe will mass-produce and distribute face masks
If one thing has become clear the last few weeks, it should be that a European collaboration is more than necessary to keep the coronavirus under control in the months to come. Cancer patients are high-risk patients for the virus. They are more susceptible to the virus, which reduces their chances of survival. That's why we can no longer stand on the sidelines.
It's a good thing that the government is concentrating on having medical protection masks produced and distributed. In the meantime, it has become obvious that we will all appear in the streets with our own masks in the coming months and maybe even longer. In order to help protect vulnerable groups, the elderly and cancer patients especially, we have now started mass production of mouth masks. Through our partnership with an Italian-Belgian company, we can create and distribute up to 100,000 personalised face masks a day starting next week.
To ensure that a wide range of masks are now quickly available to the general public, we are seeking help from companies and organisations. For orders starting from 1,000 pieces, they can have their logo, their own design or a health message printed on the mouth masks. Because they, in turn, distribute the masks to their customers, we hope to be able to bring a large number of masks on the market throughout Europe in the near future. We supply a 3-layer washable mouth mask, available in three sizes (male, female, child) at 2 € per mask. Moreover, 80% of the profit will be distributed to the cancer organisations in Europe. Patients and local hospitals need our support now more than ever, in Belgium, Italy, Spain and elsewhere. When shops, companies, schools and amusement parks will be gradually allowed to open again, then it is surely desirable that this can be done in the safest way.
Moreover, the distribution will be done on a European level through the collaboration of 22 European breast cancer associations under the coordination of Think Pink Europe.
